Jan started her accounting career in 1985 at Price Waterhouse, and from there went to several local firms, including Kruse and Associates, PLLC, which merged into Crowe Horwath. Before coming to Blankenship, Jan was a partner in a small local firm specializing in small to mid-size business accounting and tax services. Jan has dealt with a diverse client base in her career, ranging from small, start-up businesses to large, publicly-held SEC companies. Her area of expertise is tax consulting, planning and compliance for closely-held companies and their shareholders. She received a BA with high honors from the University of Tennessee in 1982 and a Masters of Business Administration from Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School, with a major in accounting and finance, in 1985.

Jan is a member of the AICPA, TSCPA, and has been involved in the Nashville Rotary, Nashville Chamber and various roundtable groups. She has taught tax continuing education classes, as well as spoken to various groups on tax highlights and strategies.
